Az india Kashi városa a Gangesz partján fekszik. A települést elárasztja az irigység, a kapzsiság, a gyűlölet, a kritika és az anyagiasság, amit a lakosság eltűr, és amiről soha nem beszél. Az embereket tárgyként kezelik, míg az élettelen tárgyaknak nagyobb jelentőséget tulajdonítanak. Az élet olyan kulturális normák szerint zajlik, amelyeket korrigálni kellene, de erre soha nem volt példa. A normák betartása a gyengék kizsákmányolásához vezet. A mentálisan beteg anyós elnyomja menyét, az ifjú házas hindu papnak el kell tartania bátyja özvegyét, miközben maga is nélkülöz, az özvegy, akinek nincs ereje új életet kezdeni, a halottégető, aki érinthetetlennek számít, mert munkája alacsonyabb rendű. Ebbe a környezetbe kerül egy ruhadarab, egy váránaszi szári, amely az új gazdáját keresi. Minden házhoz eljut, betekintést engedve az ott történtekbe. Hogyan befolyásolja ez az egyetlen szári ezeknek az embereknek az életét? Nagyobb felfordulást vagy abszolút békét hoz? Ki lesz végül a birtokosa?

Kashi, a city on the banks of the river Ganges in India is engulfed with the tide of Envy, Greed, Hatred, Criticism, and Materialism, the present society abodes but never mentions. People are treated like toys while non-living objects are given more importance. Their lives revolve around some cultural norms which need to be corrected with time but have never been the part for a change. Abode by these cultural entities, they exploit humans who are weaker to them. A daughter-in-law is suppressed by her mother-in-law as her mental state is abnormal, a newly married Hindu priest has to pay for his brother’s wife(widow) while he struggles financially, a widow who has surrendered her hopes to start a new life, a cremator(dom) is considered an untouchable because his work is a lower class. Among this, is a ‘Benarasi Sari’ which is traveling into their lives looking for its ultimate descend. It reaches every house giving us insight into their story. How will this one sari affect the life of these individuals? Will it lead to more chaos or absolute harmony? Who will be its final owner?
